The atelier is part of the art-based action research “Recollecting the Past in Kosovo: Cultural Memory between Facts and Fiction”, which is implemented by forumZFD through the course of 2013.
The 5-day atelier creates space for young artists, journalists, writers, students of social sciences and members of the civil society interested in the topic, to explore the representation of victims in popular music focusing on the relation between the artist, the victim and the art work as such. It raises the question of representation as an ethical one,
The atelier is a practice research based on the tensions between different citations, archives, readymade found material, field trips, discussions, theoretic inputs, and interviews. The participants will navigate through different questions with an attempt to create a contemporary discourse that looks into the history of ambivalence and contradictions within instant spatial practice today.
The atelier will be led by Flaka Haliti – a conceptual artist based in Frankfurt who has dealt with the topic extensively, like in her work “Our Death, Other’s Dinner”(2006). The work is exhibited and presented internationally in places like Musac – Museum for Contemporary Art Spain; ZKM – Museum of Contemporary Art, Karlsruhe; Museum of Contemporary Art Vojvodina, Novi Sad; Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin; SPAPORT BIENNIAL, Sarajevo; Stacion – Center for Contemporary Art Prishtina; Gallery Martin Janda, Vienna.
